Plenty of companies offer trips in the Dolomites, so it’s a fair question.
We’ve been walking these mountains for 18 seasons and have led more than 250 groups here. Over those years, Gary has explored an enormous amount of the Dolomites and spent countless hours studying their history, geology, geography, Ladin culture, and the people who have called these mountains home for centuries.
Gary has spent more than four decades guiding and mountaineering around the world, and 2027 will be his 45th year of international guiding and 19th season in the Dolomites. Katarina brings something quite different to the partnership—an extraordinary command of languages, a love and knowledge of plants and wildflowers, and 30 years of experience looking after people.
Together, we make a pretty good team.
So when you walk with us, we’re not simply following a trail from one place to another. Along the way, we’ll tell you what you’re seeing, who lives here, how these extraordinary mountains formed, and some of the stories that make the Dolomites more than a beautiful backdrop.
Our groups are small, usually around 6–8 guests. Gary and Katarina lead the trips personally. We stay in one amazing 4-star wellness hotel for all five nights, keep driving to a minimum, avoid the crowds whenever we can, and don’t follow a rigid day-by-day itinerary decided months beforehand.
Most importantly, we get to know the people we’re walking with. We see how you walk, watch the weather and conditions, and then use all those years of experience to choose what we think will give you the best day in the mountains.
We’re not trying to show you everything, tick off a list of famous places, or see how many miles we can cover.
We just want you to have a wonderful day in the Dolomites—every day.
