Every year, Katarina and I spend time in a handful of places we’ve come to love.
They’re not simply destinations on a map. They’re places that have become part of our lives.
The timing of each journey is just as important as the destination itself. After many years of exploring and returning to these places, we’ve carefully chosen not only where we go, but when we go—when the weather is usually at its best, the landscapes are at their finest, and there is still room to slow down and truly enjoy the places we’ve fallen in love with.
Throughout the year, we’d love a small number of people to join us as we walk mountain trails, wander along dramatic coastlines, discover hidden corners, share good food, enjoy great conversations, and simply slow down together.
Perhaps one of these journeys will feel like the right path for you.
January & February: Spain – Discovering the Canaries
January 4–16 — Lanzarote
January 17–28 — Fuerteventura
January 29–February 7 — Gran Canaria
February 8–13 — La Palma
February 14–19 — El Hierro
February 20–24 — Tenerife (for Carnival)
Now and then, we love exploring somewhere completely new. This winter we’ll fly into Lanzarote and spend nearly two months slowly making our way across six very different Canary Islands by ferry and short flights—walking, exploring, finding great little restaurants and discovering places we’d love to return to. We’ll eventually finish in Tenerife, celebrating Carnival with friends.
These aren’t scheduled Right Path journeys. They’re simply a chance to join us as we explore somewhere new together. Because these are genuine exploration journeys, we open them only to people who’ve traveled with us before. A few years ago we explored La Gomera with a fun couple who had already traveled with us several times, and we all agreed it was one of our best trips ever.
Come for a few days. Come for a week. We’d love to go exploring with you…
February 25–March 5: Tenerife – Discovering the Island We Love
Nine days exploring the island we love, combining beautiful walks, scenic drives, charming villages, hidden beaches, spectacular volcanic landscapes, and a special backstage tour of the world-famous Loro Parque. We’ve spent several months exploring Tenerife over the years and are looking forward to sharing some of our favorite corners of the island with you.
March 24–31 & March 31–April 8: Portugal – Walking the Fisherman’s Trail
Follow spectacular coastal paths, wander through quiet fishing villages, enjoy fresh seafood, and soak up the winter sunshine along Portugal’s beautiful southern Atlantic coast. We’ve returned to this coastline time and again, and we’re looking forward to sharing some of our favorite walks and hidden corners with you.
It’s one of those places where life naturally slows down and the days end with unforgettable sunsets over the Atlantic.
May 20–31: Croatia & Slovenia – A Journey of Discovery
After many requests from past guests, we’re delighted to return to two countries we love.
Beautiful walks, scenic drives, charming villages, fascinating history, and unforgettable local experiences combine to create one of our most cherished journeys.
One journey. Two beautiful countries. Countless memorable experiences.
Mid-June through July & September: Italy – Walking the Dolomites
Perhaps the place we’ve returned to more than any other. Flower-filled meadows. Mountain huts with incredible food. Five spectacular day walks. All based at one beautiful family-run mountain hotel with a pool, spa and the best view in the Dolomites, while discovering the stories, history, culture, traditions and geology that make this region so special.
After eighteen summers in the Dolomites, we’re still looking forward to sharing our favorite trails, mountain viewpoints and hidden corners with you—and introducing you to the wonderful people who’ve made us feel at home over the years.
August: Home in Slovakia… and Perhaps Somewhere Cooler
August is usually our quiet month. After a busy summer in the Dolomites, we’re back home in central Slovakia, enjoying the long summer evenings, working on our property, exploring nearby trails, and catching up with family and friends. It’s a very special place to us, and one we’d love to share with you.
If you’re traveling through Central Europe, we’d genuinely love to have you visit us. Vienna is just three hours away, Budapest only two hours, Bratislava two and a half hours, and Prague around five hours. Many of our guests stop by for a few days, enjoy one of Katarina’s famous homemade goulash, share a glass of local wine with us, meet our friends and neighbors, go for a walk, and discover a part of Slovakia that few international visitors ever experience.
And if another summer heat wave arrives, we may disappear to Iceland for a week or two and go exploring. Perhaps some of our returning Right Path friends will come with us…
September 22–30: Slovakia – Walking in the High & Low Tatra Mountains
We’ll finish our European season by sharing the country we’re proud to call home. You’ll stay in charming alpine villages, enjoy scenic mountain walks, visit a UNESCO World Heritage cave, and experience a side of Europe few people ever see.
One special evening you’ll join us at our home for one of Katarina’s homemade goulash, cooked in our outdoor kitchen, while sharing a glass of local wine with us and some of our local friends and neighbors. Afterward, you’ll spend the night in a beautifully restored 600-year-old castle, now a charming four-star hotel.
It’s a relaxed evening, but one that many guests remember as a highlight of their time in Slovakia.
October 26–November 5 & November 3–13: Nepal – Lodge Trek & Safari
Few places have influenced our lives more than Nepal. Gary has been returning to the Himalayas for over 45 years, and after many visits together, it’s become Katarina’s favorite country. We’d love to share this extraordinary place with you.
Join us for an unforgettable lodge trek through the Annapurna region, together with time in Kathmandu and Chitwan National Park. And for those who’ve always dreamed of seeing Everest, you’re welcome to join us on an optional four-day extension into the Everest region.
November & December: Somewhere in Southeast Asia
After Nepal, we usually spend a few weeks somewhere in Southeast Asia enjoying some well-earned beach time before heading home to Slovakia for Christmas.
If you happen to be traveling in the area, we’d love to hear from you. You never know where our paths might cross…
The places you’ll find us each year aren’t chosen because they’re popular. They’re simply the places Katarina and I genuinely love spending time.
If one of these places feels like the kind of journey you’re looking for… we’d love to share it with you.
Wherever we happen to be, we hope you’ll join us somewhere along the way.
Not every journey fits neatly into a calendar. If these dates don’t work for you, we’d be happy to discuss creating a private journey that follows your own path, whenever our schedules allow.
