When Katarina and I first explored southern Portugal, we walked many of the trails recommended in the guidebooks. More than once, we finished a walk, looked at each other, and thought, “What was the point of that?”

No great views. Nothing particularly interesting along the way. Just walking for the sake of saying we’d walked somewhere.

Life’s too short for that.

Then we discovered the Fishermen’s Trail.

We walked and explored different sections and eventually chose the ones we loved most — fabulous walking, spectacular Atlantic views, wonderful little villages, and the satisfaction of actually traveling somewhere on foot.

Each day continues from where we left off the day before until we eventually walk into Lagos. We also added two other walks that were simply too good to leave out: a day in the Monchique Mountains, including the remarkable Passadiços do Barranco do Demo, and the spectacular Seven Hanging Valleys Trail.

We designed the entire journey to keep driving to a minimum.

That’s how we create Right Path trips.

Less time getting somewhere. More time enjoying being there.
