Where we stay is part of the experience, not simply somewhere to sleep between activities.
We generally use comfortable, characterful 3- and 4-star hotels and guesthouses. Many are family-run, and whenever possible, we stay where we’ve developed long-term relationships.
We choose our accommodations for their comfort, location, atmosphere, amenities, and proximity to the places we’re exploring. The properties will vary. Some are more traditional, while others have more modern facilities. We don’t look for generic chain hotels that could be anywhere in Europe. We prefer places that help you experience something of Croatia or Slovenia—and the people who live there.
